THE LONG WAY FORWARD

Rotato

One complete turn away from staying put.

ONE POTATO

The First Degree

At 2:13 every morning, Rotato reaches the roundabout and chooses every exit in order. The face stays calm. The arrows do the arguing. By sunrise, the center island has seen a full revolution, three careful pauses, and no actual change of address. A streetlamp flickers once per lap, which Rotato accepts as professional feedback.

CONTINUOUS RECONSIDERATION

Almost Facing Back

At work, Rotato supervises the warehouse turntable from directly on top of it. Each crate completes its route. Rotato completes several opinions about north. Lunch is taken facing east, then west, then approximately lunch again. Management calls this dependable circular thinking. The night crew stopped asking whether the platform moves the potato or the potato moves the shift.
